WADA 2027 List names peptides as S0 examples
WADA published its 2027 Prohibited List in September 2026, in force January 1, 2027. S0 now names peptides as examples. GLP-1 status is unchanged.
The World Anti-Doping Agency published the 2027 List of Prohibited Substances and Methods after its Executive Committee approved it on September 10, 2026 [1]. WADA's resource page for the List records a publication date of September 21, 2026 [2]. The List takes effect on January 1, 2027 [1, 2].
S0 now names peptides
S0 covers any pharmacological substance that later sections of the List do not address and that no governmental regulatory health authority has approved for human therapeutic use [4, 5]. The 2026 List already named BPC-157 as an S0 example, along with designer drugs and substances approved only for veterinary use [5]. The 2027 List (tracked-changes text) adds the word "peptides" to those examples [4]. WADA's 2027 modification note says many peptides not approved for human use meet the Code criteria for the List and fall under S0 or other classes such as S2 or S4, and that a peptide that is not named may still be prohibited [3].
The 2027 modification note does not list changes to S2 peptide hormones, growth factors, related substances, and mimetics [3]. The 2027 tracked List still names, among others, kisspeptin, AOD-9604, CJC-1295, sermorelin, tesamorelin, ipamorelin, GHRP-2 and GHRP-6, ibutamoren (MK-677), and TB-500 under S2 [4].
GLP-1 agonists stay on monitoring
WADA says the status of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, including semaglutide and tirzepatide, remains unchanged for 2027 pending further data [1]. They are not on the Prohibited List. The 2027 Monitoring Program lists GLP-1 agonists, naming semaglutide and tirzepatide, in and out of competition [6]. The 2026 Monitoring Program listed "Markers of Semaglutide and Tirzepatide" for the same window [7]. Dermorphin and its analogs were on the 2026 Monitoring Program under narcotics and were removed for 2027 after WADA said enough information had been collected [3, 6, 7].
